On certain vehicles, the bearing surface of the crankshaft where the timing belt guide plate touches is not large enough due to the improper processing. If left unfixed, the pulley bolt can become loose and cause abnormal noise, and in the worst case, the crank pulley could fail to convey the power, or the engine auxiliary belt could come off the crank pulley, and either can result in the illumination of the charge warning light and in heavier steering.
Correction:
The pulley bolt should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit. Also, the crankshaft and key should be inspected, and the one with damage should be replaced with a new one.
